Wedding photography lenses that every photographer can not do without

There are generally four types of lens photograph every wedding photographer should have in his Gig Bag:

Wide-angle zoom
Wide-telephoto zoom lens
Image-stabilized telephoto zoom
Prime lenses / portrait

Wide-angle zoom

Wide-angle lenses have a zoom of the main objectives photograph every wedding photographer would normally 17mm to 35 mm in length with a fixed aperture of 2.8. They offer a great depth of fieldArea, which makes it easier to get in the foreground and background in focus. They are an indispensable wedding photography equipment, which allows flexibility in confined spaces such as a banquet hall or dance floor crowded. While shorter Goals allow you to capture more details, zoom wide-angle lenses allow you to get more reactions and atmosphere to tell a richer story.

To elaborate further, in order to zoom wide-angle photography to take a broader perspective of momentsHappening all over the big problem, and provide a broader picture of the whole event. For example, wide-angle photos are able to say: "stories in a story" so that they reveal more about the history behind the shot. This is essential for a good photojournalistic wedding photography. As the events surrounding the wedding are so time sensitive, slow good photograph can capture as many actions or emotions in the shortest possible time.

When used in a place likeas the church or ballroom, wide-angle lenses with zoom camera also increases the size and spaciousness of the area that embodies the feeling of a creative photography photojournalistic wedding.

However, you must be selective action scenes or zoom with wide angle lenses to shoot wide as a limitation is that it creates a distortion of the body, especially if a subject is photographed close up. In general, people tend to look heavier and shorter on the sides, whileIt may seem huge arms. The last thing you want is to have the bride put curse for having provided her look like she has to £ 10! To overcome this problem, you should avoid as far as possible, that the bride and groom at the edges of wide angle distortion. In addition, the wide-angle photography is disruptive or introduce unwanted elements into the frame, which would otherwise ruin a perfect moment of the image.

Wide-telephoto zoom lens

Wide-Tele-Objectives The objectives are the most important, is not a wedding photographer can do without. You should ideally have lenses that can cover somewhere around the 20-70mm focal length with an aperture of f/2.8. The ideal offer, you can be wide enough to take a group photo and close enough to capture facial emotion in a snapshot or three-quarter portrait of a couple without the negative effects of wide-angle perspective distortion. They also serve as a good target for doublePortraits. Since only this goal, we would be able to more shots needed for a wedding to capture decently well.

Image-stabilized telephoto zoom

Tele-image-stabilized zoom lenses are also essential elements for your wedding list photo equipment. The 70-200mm focal length is an important area for wedding photos. It allows you to make more room for subjects in situations where you do not want to get in your way. How often have youShooting down the aisle from the back of the church came to image-stabilized telephoto zoom very useful. 200mm is long enough to be able, 3 / 4 length photos of the bride and groom exchange vows taken during the stay a reasonable distance is wide, and 70mm from the action enough to get the bridesmaids and groomsmen as a group of To shoot without switching lenses.

A positive point is that it could occur when using photography as a slow, beautiful background blurreached a maximum aperture f/2.8 focal lengths wide and 200mm long or 300mm, if you have a full frame sensor or a small body. This helps isolate the subject from the background, and focus on the image you portray as the main subject focus. These lenses are ideal for photography in which no shots are close and intimate and private moments where you want to get to an unseen stranger at a distance. Some examples arefurtive glance, a mischievous smile, a kiss - the data that are effectively communicated emotions. Image-stabilized telephoto zoom photography therefore play an important role in the collection of these moments.

These image stabilized telephoto zoom photography are not only good for background blur events or shooting from a distance. Could also be used to be awesome facial close-ups of creative angle up or down the theme that do not show the normal patternDistortion of the chin or large heads contraction, which come from a wider lens photography.

Another advantage of such a goal is the photo that you can use the 1.5x crop factor camera's small sensor in your favor. The long end of the 200/2.8 would be convenient standard zoom lens 300/2.8, a goal, which is $ 4000 for a full-frame camera. The effective length of 300mm makes creative photo corners shorter Camcorders, like images cut out from closeSpouse hands to lift the veil of the bride or the bride and groom hands as they put any rings on his fingers.

The obvious disadvantage of image-stabilized telephoto zoom to pull in many cases, long-lens photography, the subject of the most important scene, and tilt would be little or no context, because the problem was, they felt could be expressed as the place of the subject and who else was there.

When using a small camera sensorMain body or backup, the other disadvantage of image-stabilized telephoto zoom, that not one of Nikon, Canon or Sony for an f/2.8 lens, which will make you an effective 70-200mm focal length. Therefore, you should pay the high price and bear the weight of the lens photography to the capabilities of a full frame camera is.

Canon Image Stabilization, Vibration Reduction Nikon and Sony's SteadyShot INSIDE are systems in which the hand-holding this very importantand heavy long lens photography, especially in low light situations. Every wedding photographer should ensure that the image stablization and features vibration reduction lens is long. You might also consider using a tripod to ensure the continuous, precise positioning of the subject and sharp photos. These tele-photo zoom lens is a huge investment, and if you have a budget constraint or an amateur just starting out, you might consider hiringinstead.

Prime Lenses

Prime lenses are essentially fixed focal length lenses as zoom lenses, variable focal length 24-70mm say they oppose or have 17-55mm. Prime lenses are generally in better quality than the mode optical zoom lens, and usually with large maximum apertures like 2.8 or 1.8.

Good fixed focal length lenses are must-have for wedding photographers and photography, are honored for their goodPortraits. Even if you have enough for a wedding shoot with the three zoom lenses in a lens kit to have, as described above, it is also worth two fast prime lenses in the bag 58 as well. This photo lenses are compact, lightweight and relatively inexpensive and probably run around 10 to 20% from a wedding requires.

Photography lenses are ideal fastest main situations in which the opening of f/2.8 is not enough to stop the movement, the shutter speed or get flatDepth of field is desired, both for artistic or technical reasons. For example, one image at 1/20th of a second shutter speed to 2.8 you need only require 1/60th of a second at 1.8, makes a distinction between a photo and a sharp focus. Many professional wedding photographers are actually fixed focal length concert in their bags as the economic security of their zoom lenses. Not many people can afford to buy a further 70-200mm f/2.8 telephoto as a backup and you alsowant a situation where desperate not to share your camera lens so that during a crucial moment.

There are many prime lenses on the market, but most photographers would have a 28/1.8, 50/1.8, 85/1.8 and included in their first photo lens kit for use on a full frame body. The 28mm is wide enough to cover the ceremony and most places in tight spaces, the 50mm is good for many small groups, or a priest blessing a couple, and 85 mm is sufficient for the ceremony and vowsExchange of rings. A successful marriage can be photographed only with these three lenses Photography.

Wedding Photograph; a Couples Dream

Having a wedding photograph to show your kids after many years of marriage is a life long dreams of many couples. . Capturing it on film to be stored forever is even more important. Today, brides and grooms have so any options to choose from when it comes to choosing the kind of photography that they want for the most important day of their lives.

Here are some tips for you to achieving the wedding photograph of your dreams

1. Choosing the right photographer

For a good wedding photograph couples must first decide on the style of their picture. Portrait photographers are perfectly capable to take both formal and casual pictures, but they will most likely concentrate on the formal ones. The photojournalist photographer takes shots that are not planned but are very candid this kind of photographers usually has experience in photography journalism

Those who took photography as hobbies are often friends or relatives to the wedding couples and most times offer their service for free or at a very low price
It is hard to tell the kind of pictures that they will produce, and there is a risk that the pictures may not be as good as a professional's.
Wedding photographers usually use two basic camera types: the 35mm and the medium format. The 35mm has the tendency to produce pictures that are a little grainy, but the only people who may notice the difference are the photographers themselves.

2. Color or black and white?

Colors are usually used in wedding photos, but those who want more artistic feel may go for the black and white film. Black and white photos last longer than color ones, though color films capture the details of the event more appropriately. One option would be to take the pictures in color first, then have copies made in black and white

3 Personality of the photographer

Most couples want a photographer who can take great pictures but who is also friendly and sociable. Set an interview with the prospective photographer, and make sure to ask effective questions. Also, make sure to ask for references, and take a look at his previous work.

All these tips can help couples in getting those perfect pictures on their special day. Make sure that these pictures can be shown proudly to families and friends, and can be passed down to future generations

What Kind of Camera Should My Wedding Photographer Use?

If you are in the process of looking for a wedding photographer, chances are you will soon here the terms: medium format, 35mm, and digital. Those are the three primary types of camera systems currently used by wedding photographers. We, the wedding photographers, have argued amongst ourselves for years as to which camera system is best. The goal of this article is to share information about these types of camera systems and the possible impact they may have on your wedding photographer decision.

Medium Format

For many years medium format has been the absolute best option. A medium format camera uses film that is 3 times the size of a 35mm negative-- resulting in higher resolution images and beautiful enlargements, however, the cameras and processing costs are very expensive.

Primary advantages: high resolution negatives. Previously, the fact that a person owned a Medium Format camera was almost, in and of itself, a sign that they were a true "wedding photographer" (due to the expense of the system).

Disadvantages: expensive to operate (film costs are so high that some wedding photography books encourage medium format photographers to limit the photos they take); film can be lost or damaged during processing; slower to focus and operate.

35mm

For many years 35mm has had a bad reputation for providing poor quality enlargements -- especially when compared to medium format. However, over the past 10 years the quality of 35mm film has improved tremendously. It is now a common format used by many professional photographers, especially those who use the photojournalistic style and shoot close to a thousand or more images on a wedding day.

Primary advantages to 35mm: fast (easy to quickly focus and shoot during), much improved quality of enlargements (many people would have a hard time telling the difference between a 35mm and medium format 8x10 enlargement).

Disadvantages: processing film is becoming more and more expensive, and film can be damaged or loss during processing.. Many photographers that shoot film are now having the negatives scanned so that the files become a digital file.

Digital

Professional digital wedding photography has been a viable option since about the year 2000 (although some would argue that date). The quality of digital cameras has now reached a point where many photographers feel the quality rivals, or even beats, medium format negatives. In fact, many digital wedding photographers used to shoot medium format.

Primary digital advantages: instant review of images on the back of the camera; no film and processing costs (although the savings is offset by the additional computer time required to process the digital images); more control over the images (i.e., a slight rotation or cropping of an image is quick and easy with digital but requires a custom print from 35mm or medium format).

Disadvantages: technology changes rapidly over time and cameras soon are outdated (although this doesn't necessarily effect you, as the consumer). Memory cards are easier to lose than rolls of film (if your wedding photographer uses a digital camera, ask them how they make sure the photos arrive safely back at the studio).

In summary:

No matter what you have been told - all three formats can be a viable method for wedding photography. Some might be more expensive than others, but they all can produce good results. Many photographers use several of the camera systems. Some might use medium format for the formals but 35mm for the reception and ceremony coverage. Others will primarily shoot digital, but might bring film cameras as backup equipment.

My advice to prospective brides: before signing a contract with a photographer, ask to see sample enlargements that were taken with the same equipment that would be used at your wedding. If you like the quality and color of the images, it doesn't really matter whether 35mm, digital, or a medium format camera was used to record the image!

The Ruse Of Digital Wedding Photographers

Digital cameras are an exciting tool for consumers and amateurs alike! They provide enough instant feedback, gratification and seeming "success" that can easily build a false sense of security whereby the camera operator - now encouraged by well-meaning family and friends - decides to declare him- or her-self a "photographer" and promptly secures a website as proof of their new career. But, "What is wrong with that?" you would say, "Everyone has to start somewhere! And, if they really are enthusiastic about photography, why not?!"

My answer: because at a wedding, there is only one opportunity to get it right. There are no do-overs; once the moment has passed, it is gone, never to happen again. Informed people are less likely to be disappointed by leaving their precious memories to chance.

As an International award-winning professional photographer educated in and operating my own business for over fifteen years I've not witnessed such a large influx of wedding photographers since the industry moved from medium-format cameras that produced traditional photographic results, to the use of 35mm cameras (and yes, even the current digital cameras) that resulted in the more editorial and contemporary documentary style photography of today.

The real problem lies in the fact that most of the people flooding into wedding photography today lack a formal education, consistent training, or at a minimum, an internship in the professional photographic techniques that will provide clients with beautiful imagery and consistent exposures and results. In the amateur's enthusiasm in claiming their stake as a "photographer" and declaring themselves a business, they quickly overlook and even dismiss the important photographic theories and creative techniques, such as proper exposure and the ability to see and use light creatively, and they almost always lack solid business experience frequently falling short in accountability to their clients.

As what often happens in the concept of supply/demand, when supplies (photographers) are in abundance, prices of the product (photography) typically decrease. This can seem to be a great thing, particularly for most wedding clients on a budget who are embarking on one of the most expensive ventures of their lives! But the fact is, that price alone does not always determine experience or quality service and products, particularly a low price, again bringing to light that most amateurs don't know how to operate a business in the first place. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is and you'll want to keep in mind the adage: you get what you pay for.

How then, do we help our friends, family or even our potential clients choose a professional photographer with the creative skills and business experience to deliver their precious cargo - the history of how a couple's lives began together? We inform them of what criterion to look for and what questions are critical to ask when they are seeking a professional photographer for their important events.

Tips For Wedding Photographs

Weddings are one of the main events which we remember throughout our lives. This is the moment which should be captured properly. Everybody wants it to be perfect. So it is very important that we do not spoil this day in people's life.

So let's look at few tips and ideas which would actually help to give the best of our work.

Camera techniques

Wedding photographers normally use the basic cameras: the medium format and the 35mm. The 35mm has got the propensity to give pictures which are little grainy and only the photographers can notice the difference. Camera height is a good technique which can be used for good effects therefore the camera does not need to be tilted to click the full pictures. You can also look in the viewfinder and review the shot. Also you can decide to lower or raise the camera to present different stature or to cut height. On the other hand you can alter the height. For example, the camera height might be correct for the groom and bride, but other intrusive objects can be shown above the head if the camera is held too low. Also the groom and the bride can look taller by just keeping your camera lower

Black and white or color

Normally colors are used in wedding photographs. But some people want it to feel more artistic, than they prefer black and white. Also black and white images last longer, so one can take the picture in color and can take copies in black and white.

Other techniques

You should be very comfortable with all the basic techniques like: posing, lighting, flash, controlling groups. Even before knowing the camera techniques one should be comfortable using all these techniques

Determining the angle

There are two basic angles which determine the angle: lighting and the point of interest. These are the main basic aspects that need to be determined by every photographer. Photography must have the point of interest. After knowing this one can know the angle of the camera, so that one can capture the type of drama, which one wants to portray in the photos.

Lighting

While determining the angle, lighting is the deciding aspect which determines the character of the subject. This actually shows that the personality of the subject might change according to the type of lightning which is used while clicking pictures. Certainly camera angles might seem very ordinary but it helps to define what the photograph is about. Therefore determining the best angle in photography is very significant.

Planning Your Wedding Photography

Once you pick your wedding day, it is important to book a photographer as soon as possible. After you find a photographer whose style you like and whose price fits in your budget, you need to take the time to meet with him or her and begin planning the photos that you will want for your big day.

Sometimes, wedding photographers offer packages that include bridal or engagement portraits. If you can choose, it can be helpful to pick engagement portraits. This gives the photographer a chance to get to know the groom so that he's not a complete stranger on the wedding day. Typically, a photographer will have his or her own list of preferred locations for engagement portraits so that you can have the best pictures possible.

Setting up a time line is a very important part of making sure that you get all of the shots that you want on your wedding day, even down to the engagement portraits. Many couples like to have slide shows sharing pictures of them at the rehearsal dinner or reception, so if you want your formal engagement pictures as part of this, you should make sure that you take them enough time ahead of the wedding so that the photographer can process the images, and you can add them into the show. Additionally, other couples choose to display large copies of their favorite engagement photos at the reception if the bride does not get bridal portraits.

After you book the photographer and get the ball rolling on your other photography sessions, you should take the time to sit down with him or her to make a list of the shots that you definitely want. This is especially important with someone who has a more photojournalistic style since you want to be sure to get all of the family poses that you want. Many photographers have a list of suggested poses, such as with the bride's family, groom's family, both together, grandparents, etc.

Because these formal shots can take a while, you may want to plan ahead so that you do not keep your guests waiting for a long time at the reception. If the bride and groom do not want to see each other before the ceremony, it is a good idea to be ready at least an hour and a half before the wedding so that both the bridal party and groom's party can take their respective group shots. This way, you only have to take the family and together portraits after the ceremony.

However, if you are having an outdoor ceremony, it is important to plan these shots with even more finesse based on the changes in lighting. You do not want to start your wedding so late that your pictures will be in the dark. Thus, if you want your wedding at dusk, you should definitely plan to take as many pictures before the ceremony as possible.

Once you have all of your pictures, the hardest part can be choosing the one perfect photo that you want to display. However, once you do pick it, you may want to do more than just stick it in a frame and put it on a dusty shelf. Consider turning your photo into canvas work of art-this way, you can display the beautiful photo of your special day in a manner that it deserves.
